Praise Nintendo for making the Nintendo Wii, a seventh generation of game consoles. It was conceptualized and developed after the launching of Nintendo GameCube.

Wii

Right after the released of GameCube, the developer started thinking of a new gaming system. Wii was based on the technology of GameCube but with a new twist. The concept for Wii was focused on a new interaction between the gaming system and the player. Wii was mentioned in the year 2004 at the E3 press Conference. Nintendo DS or simply DS was a great influenced on how Wii was designed. The console was originally known by the code name “Revolution” until they came up with the word “Wii” which sounds like “we”, it emphasizes that the system can be played by everybody.

Wii is equipped with a controller than everyone can understand. A wireless controller specially designed and can be used as a handheld pointing device, the Wii Remote Controller. The consoles offer four ways to stay connected, a Wi-Fi system, Blue Tooth Technology, two USB Ports. And the developers were able to add a unique characteristic: backward compatibility. So GameCube users can stop worrying about the compatibility issues.

The system features “parental controls”, which enables the parents to control and protect their children from disturbing games. With the size of about 8.5 inches long it is easy to carry and set it up with your television set. Aside from the Wii Remote, there is also the Nunchuck and the traditional gamepad controller.

After all these years of improving technology, Nintendo keeps the pace and aims for a different goal from the other gaming systems. From the traditional Nintendo to the Wii, it seems that technology is just a breath away for everybody. And check out the cool games that were created for the system, we are able to experience a new way of playing out all-time favorite “Super Mario”.

A salute and thumbs-up for the Nintendo guys.
